Cataract Co-Management

Cataracts cause the natural lens of the eye to become cloudy. They usually affect older people, and cause blurry vision and difficulty seeing in low light.

It takes many years for a cataract to interfere with a patient’s vision. Until that time comes, our optometrists monitor their progression. When it’s time for surgery, we co-manage pre-and post-surgery care with a trusted eye surgeon.

Co-management includes regular eye exams to monitor how quickly the cataract is developing, changing eyeglass prescriptions where necessary, and guidance on lifestyle changes to slow the progression of the cataract.

Added to this, we also help patients after they’ve had cataract surgery to ensure they have a favorable outcome.
